Oxygen Addicts Experience Extreme Withdrawal Symptoms in Health Study

Researchers at Garbridge University have long known about the prevalence of oxygen addiction among the general population. In a study exploring how to help individuals break their breathing addiction, they have found that breaking the habit is harder than some had hoped. “Many volunteers experienced extreme withdrawal symptoms when deprived from oxygen.” Explained the research team leader, Dr. Pamela Adams. “Skin discoloration and mood swings were the most commonly reported symptoms.”

The effort is not without its critics. Some have complained that having oxygen on campus poses a hazard to students. Others found efforts to use of helium as an oxygen substitute disruptive to the learning environment on campus. In any case, the research team strongly encourages individuals struggling with oxygen addiction to seek medical assistance, rather than attempting to quit on their own.

“I would be lying if I didn’t admit the results are disappointing,” Dr. Adams said prior to ending on a more hopeful note, “But ‘patience’ is another word for ‘science’ and these data will only help us to improve future studies.”
