The Garbridge University Badminton Team, affectionately known as the Dumpies, ignited the courts with a scorching 6-1 victory against Westbrook College in Saturday’s regional championship. The win marks their most impressive performance this season, with their signature dumpster fire mascot blazing proudly from the sidelines.
Team captain Sarah Chen led the charge with a commanding 21-15, 21-18 victory in her singles match, while the dynamic duo of freshman Marcus Thompson and veteran James Rodriguez secured a crucial doubles win. “Everyone brought their fire today,” Chen quipped, nodding to their uniquely spirited mascot.
Coach Patricia Martinez praised her team’s burning determination: “This win represents everything the Dumpies stand for – turning up the heat when it matters most.”
The Dumpies will face Sterling University on Saturday, November 16th, at the Garbridge University Sports Complex. Student admission is free with valid ID.
